US Secretary of State Antony Blinken made his second trip to the Middle East due to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict that began on October 7.
Blinken, who made a statement to Hezbollah Secretary General Nasrallah during his speech, said:
“This conflict must be prevented from spreading to other regions. The United States has responded to Iranian attacks and will continue to do so.
We must do more to protect Palestinian civilians.
Partners in and around the Middle East play a critical role in preventing tensions from escalating, and this will be the main focus of my trip.
“We gave advice to Israel”
- The United States has advised Israel on how to reduce civilian deaths while achieving its goal of eliminating Hamas. The protection of civilians must be guaranteed not only in Gaza, but also in the West Bank.
I spoke with Netanyahu and other Israeli officials about concrete steps to reduce civilian deaths. We have identified mechanisms that will ensure that fuel reaches Gaza’s hospitals.
I discussed concrete steps with Israeli leaders to increase stable supplies of food, water and medicine.
We are focused on securing the release of hostages, including Americans.
He added: “We are talking with our partners in the region about what should be done after the war in Gaza, and we will continue to do so.”
