SIOUX FALLS, SD – Southern Indiana earned the first TicketSmarter Summit League Men’s and Women’s Swimmers of the Week honors. Sam Smith took home the men’s swimming honors and Hayden Schurtz took home the women’s swimming award after her performance against Valparaiso.
Smith placed first in all three individual events he competed in when he made his collegiate debut. The Trafalgar, Indiana native competed in the 1000m freestyle (10:07.57), 200m butterfly (1:58.80) and 500m freestyle (4:58.16).
In her collegiate debut, Schurz set a pair of program records in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.66) and 200 breaststroke (2:26.87). The Fort Wayne, Indiana native also helped the 200 Medley Relay team take first place with a time of 1:51.00.
