Utah Jazz have stopped selling shirts with distinctive features Michael JordanThe “Jumpman” logo… came after fans complained that the image brought back some painful memories for them.
The T-shirt featured Jordan’s famous silhouette, skipping the Jazz letters… something Utah supporters were very upset about given what Jordan did to them during his time with the Bulls.
You may remember that while playing for Chicago in the 1990s, he beat the Jazz regularly…including twice in the NBA Finals.
So when some supporters saw the gray jersey for sale in the team store — they complained mercilessly — according to a reporter from The Salt Lake Tribune Andy Larsonthe Jazz ultimately quickly shook off the backlash.
As for how this jersey originally came about, following the NBA’s partnership with Jordan Brand a few years ago… teams across the league — not just the Jazz — began rolling out generic designs featuring the “Jumpman” logo on them.
However, it seems Jazz fans would rather spend their money on any other merchandise… something the team learned the hard way this month.
