Vaccination campaign against coronavirus and influenza in Ceuta

On October 25, Ceuta started a joint vaccination campaign against influenza and COVID-19, for which the Ministry of Health and Social Services has purchased 16,600 doses of influenza vaccine, 1,300 of which are pediatric vaccines. As a novelty, the campaign includes vaccination of children under five years old and recommends combined immunization against coronavirus and influenza.

According to the Interterritorial Committee report, the Ceuta vaccination campaign aims to strengthen the immunization of the most vulnerable groups as well as health and social care personnel.

In this way, influenza vaccination recommendations are developed for people who are at risk for more serious complications from this infection and who may spread the disease to others who are at greater risk.

Who in Ceuta must get the coronavirus and influenza vaccine?

Ceuta’s vaccination campaign focuses on two groups: those with medical indications and those working in essential services.

People with medical indications

• People over 60 years old.
• Persons over the age of 5, inmates of disability centers and nursing homes, and other persons held long-term in closed institutions.
• People under 60 years of age with risk conditions such as diabetes, chronic cardiovascular disease, neurological disease, kidney disease, respiratory disease or neuromuscular disease, and cancer.
• Pregnant women in any trimester of pregnancy and women in the postpartum period (up to 6 months postpartum and not vaccinated during pregnancy).
• People who live with someone who is highly immunosuppressed, such as someone who has had a hematopoietic stem cell transplant, a solid organ transplant with chronic renal failure, or someone with chronic renal failure.

Workers reduce the impact of the virus and maintain essential services

• Workers in health and social care centers and institutions (with or without health care).
• Persons working in essential public services such as national security forces and agencies, the armed forces, firefighters and civil protection services.

• Population of children under five years of age (6 to 59 months).
• People between the ages of 5 and 59 who are at higher risk for complications from the flu, such as smokers and people between the ages of 5 and 18 who are on long-term treatment with acetylsalicylic acid, as Reye’s syndrome may occur after the flu.
• Students undertake internships at the Center for Health and Social Care.
• Persons who have direct occupational contact with animals or their secretions on poultry, swine, mink or wildlife farms or operations.

When and where to get the COVID vaccine and flu vaccine?

The COVID-19 vaccination space in Ceuta will take place in the old military hospital.

• Monday to Friday 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
• Anyone who belongs to the target group can go to this center. With or without reservation.

On the other hand, three INGESA health centers have also been assigned to Ceuta to vaccinate target groups belonging to this entity. No private appointment.

• Zone I (El Recinto), Zone II (Otero) and Zone III (Tarajal).
• Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm to 4:45 pm
