Venice 80 – Official choice

Venezia 80 knows how and wants to live in historical events, she is very future-oriented, like her manifesto signed by Mattotti, and she is not afraid of change. So says Roberto Cicutto, before giving the floor to the very confused, not at all synthetic and at times too informal Alberto Barbera with a list of films that we will see at the Lido.

Barbera comments too much, dwelling on adding personal and redundant visions, from his lack of appreciation for Giorgio Rights to the “suffocating feminism” of some cinemas in recent years, not to mention insult which he used without any regard for language. As expected, SAG-AFTRA registered stars will not attend Venice 80, but there will be independent film stars as well as producers, directors and female directors. Below are the main announced titles.

In the official selection of Venice 80, 23 films participate, of which 15 are for the first time on the Lido and 6 are Italian:

Out of competition

Among the out-of-competition, it is worth noting the choice of two series, i know your soul AND Silver and blood, the latter will be shown in full with all 12 episodes of 50 minutes each. He will also arrive at the Lido. Woody Allen with Coupe de Chance, Wes Anderson with a medium length film based on a story by Roald Dahl, The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar (and star cast) and even Travis Scottprotagonist of Harmony Korine’s experimental work (for A24) titled Agro Dr1ft.

Big names out of competition also Richard Linklater with Hit Man, Roman Polanski with Castle and Liliana Cavani, who will receive the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement, with Time order. Also expected is the amazing Quentin Dupier with Yesaaaaali!

Also out of competition will be the final film (produced by Netflix), Snow Society J. A. Bayona.
