Vertical excavation will be carried out for 41 workers trapped in a collapsed tunnel in India

Member of the National Disaster Management Authority, Sayed Atta Hassanein, said that the search and rescue team is preparing for vertical drilling.

Hassanein indicated that the machine was placed on a platform in the tunnel where the workers were trapped, and he explained that the vertical drilling work would begin within 24 to 36 hours.

According to Hindustan Times, Hasnain stated that in this context, in order to reach the workers, the vertical drilling machine must dig about 86 meters and the method in question must be done slowly and precisely.

An American-made drilling machine broke down

Australian tunneling expert Arnold Dix, who contributed to the search and rescue efforts, announced that the American-made drilling machine broke down after colliding with a metal beam, and was no longer repairable, and that methods different from horizontal drilling would be used to rescue the workers.

State Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had announced that rescue efforts would continue using manual drilling after the horizontal drilling machine broke down.

Al-Dhami stated that he met the stranded workers and they said that their morale was high and their condition was good.

They were trapped after the tunnel collapsed.

On November 12, part of the tunnel under construction collapsed during road works in India, and oxygen and food were delivered to 41 trapped workers through a tube.

Rescue efforts were halted on the 7th due to damage to the drilling machines, and contact was made with the trapped workers on 21 November.
