Exclusive photos taken by Al Arabiya Camera showed the moments Red Cross vehicles carrying prisoners held by Hamas crossed from the Gaza Strip into Egypt, on the first day of a four-day truce between Israel and Hamas after weeks of war.
An Israeli security source confirmed on Friday that the security services have received 13 Israeli prisoners released by Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
The source said: “The 13 Israeli prisoners are now in the custody of the Israeli security services,” after being released, Agence France-Presse reported.
For its part, an Egyptian security source reported that Cairo received the first batch of prisoners, consisting of 13 people, in preparation for their transfer to the Kerem Shalom crossing and handover to Israel, Arab World News reported Agency.
Similarly, the head of the Egyptian Information Service, Diaa Rashwan, said: “Intensive Egyptian efforts have led to the release of 12 Thai citizens, as well as 13 Israeli children and women,” the Middle East News Agency reported .
Today, Friday, the Red Cross welcomed 13 Israeli prisoners leaving Gaza through the Rafah crossing on the border with Egypt, the Times of Israel newspaper reported.
A source told Agence France-Presse: “Half an hour ago, the prisoners were handed over to the Red Cross, which handed them over to the Egyptian crew and the Israeli crew assigned to receive them at the Rafah crossing.”
Additionally, a security source said the detainees would be transferred from Rafah to the Kerem Shalom crossing, the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation reported.
Ziv Agmon, adviser in charge of the prisoner file in the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, confirmed that the International Committee of the Red Cross will receive the prisoners individually or in groups and take them to the border at hand. hand them over to the Israeli army.
Agmon stressed that military officials “will interrogate each prisoner and identify him physically and through the list to ensure” the validity of his identity.
Doctors will carry out a “full physical examination” for each prisoner who is released, then make phone calls to families, who will be monitored by specialists.
This came after reaching a four-day renewable truce agreement during which 50 hostages held in Gaza would be exchanged for 150 Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons.
The truce was supposed to take effect on Thursday but was postponed until Friday, which is the forty-ninth day of the war between Israel and Hamas.
