Villoria Health Center recognized for good practice in antibiotic treatment of urinary tract infections

The Las Vilas region is fortunate in its public health situation, as the region’s Villoria Health Center has just been recognized for its primary care team’s good practices in optimizing antibiotic treatment of uncomplicated urinary tract infections (UTIs). The awarding of the accredited diplomas will take place on November 24 at the Sacyl Good Practice in Patient Safety conference in Segovia, with the participation of representatives of professionals invited to participate in the working group. The study was conducted at the Villarejo Health Center.

The evaluation committee ultimately evaluated 46 eligible proposals, with the majority of the approved proposals belonging to secondary hospitals, which makes the good practices led by health center professionals even more indispensable. This distinction was developed in primary care.

“What we are sending is the practice of optimizing antibiotic treatment of uncomplicated urinary tract infections among primary care teams because we are seeing a huge increase in antibiotic consumption and the percentage of antibiotic resistance. So we want to be as sure as possible, at least in our primary health area Or try to reduce this good practice. We produced a clinical meeting model for colleagues, doctors and nurses in health centers and prepared a presentation with data on antibiotic consumption in Europe and Spain. We selected a clinical case for this topic , regarding uncomplicated urinary tract infections, for which we relied on Sacyl’s recommendations for empirical treatment, we saw the reality of what measures were taken in this case and what measures should be taken in this case.
