Watch John Legend’s spontaneous duet of “All of Me” with a member’s voice

Season 24 premiere Voice ended with a musical mix-up between contestant Mara Justine and coaches John Legend and Niall Horan.

How to watch

Justine wowed the coaches with a powerful rendition of Elton John’s “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road”, earning her a four-chair turn before she could even hit the chorus. Not only that, but Justine’s beloved blind audition also sparked a battle between all four coaches. While Gwen Stefani came out early, just half a second behind Legend in an almost instantaneous chair turn, both she and Reba McEntire were outplayed by the guys in the bidding war.

Legend and Horan walked out swaying. Horan enlisted a little behind-the-scenes help from former coach Blake Shelton in the form of a giant finger. But Legend used the most epic tactic of all.

Not wanting to be outdone, Legend joined Horan and Justine on stage under the guise of wanting to find out what Horan was up to before asking a simple but meaningful question. “Have you ever sung one of my songs before?”

“Of course,” Justine replied, before Horan chimed in: “But you don’t want to do it now, right?” Ignoring Horan, Legend continued, “Do you want to sing a song together? That would be fun.”

Who would refuse this?

The piano began to play softly and Legend began a live performance of his hit “All of Me.” Justin jumped up confidently, matching the Legend note for note.

For a moment, Horan seemed to accept his defeat and fell to the ground in apparent surrender. But no, having clearly lost, Horan abandoned all claims and simply asked: “Choose me.”

Will this be enough to sway her to Horan’s side? Or will Legend’s musical shenanigans prevail? Find out at Voiceairs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC and the next day on Peacock.
