WATCH: Tom Brady offers scathing criticism of current NFL

“I think there’s a lot of mediocrity in the NFL today. I don’t see the excellence that I saw in the past,” Brady told The Stephen A. Smith Shows ‘Monday (November 20).

“I don’t think the coaching is as good as it used to be,” Brady added. “I don’t think the development of young players is as good as it used to be. I don’t think the programs are as good as they used to be.

“Those rules allowed a lot of bad habits to get into the actual performance of the game. So I just think the product I think is not as good as it used to be.”

NFL scoring is down for the fourth consecutive season in 2023, with teams averaging a combined 43.3 points per game, down from the 43.8 average in 2022 and 45.9 in 2021, and on pace to be the lowest average since 2009. The team averaged 42.9 points per game at the time.The league has also seen a large number of injuries at the quarterback position.

Joe Burrow, Kirk Cousins, Deshaun Watson and Anthony Richardson All suffered season-ending injuries, and Aaron Rodgers Expected to miss the remainder of the season – despite claiming a return is possible – and Kyle Murray Important time is missed.

Brady announced his retirement in February and has since become a free agent, but he can still sign with any NFL team as his purchase of an ownership stake in the Las Vegas Raiders is still awaiting league approval.
