The zombie genre in South Korea
This is not the first time that the South Korean film and television industry has opted for zombies in fiction. The movie zombie station set a precedent with its premiere in 2016 that was a phenomenon among the global audience, and that they tried to continue with the sequel for Netflix, although without matching the success of the first. It was also launched on this same platform Kingdom, a period series that portrays the Joseon Dynasty period in the imagery of a zombie epidemic. It had two seasons of six episodes each.
The turn now comes for We are dead, whose school plot promises to attract mostly a younger audience through its adolescent characters and the problems of their age in the midst of a catastrophe caused by a virus that brings the dead back to life. Its premiere will be on January 28.
