Serena Williams’ former coach Rene Stubbs recently showed off an outfit she wore at the soccer star’s retirement celebration that bore a striking resemblance to Megan Rapinoe’s outfit.
Rapinoe previously announced plans to retire after the 2023 National Women’s Soccer League season. She said that the 2023 Women’s World Cup will be her last time participating in this prestigious event. She also announced that she will end her club career with OL Reign at the end of the season.
Megan Rapinoe’s remarkable career has included two World Cups and an Olympic gold medal.
The football star’s club team OL Reign held a celebration for the football star on Friday, October 6, in front of a record-breaking 34,130 National Women’s Football League fans. It was a striking sight and many supporters donated pink wigs in her honor.
The 38-year-old has been an integral part of the Reign since 2013, making her one of only five players in the entire league to remain loyal to their respective teams since the NWSL’s inception.
Megan Rapinoe played 114 regular season games for the Reign, scoring an impressive 49 goals during that time. Her upcoming game will be on the road against the Chicago Red Stars.
After Friday’s game, Rapinoe’s friends from the sports and entertainment world gathered to celebrate her retirement. Rene Stubbs also attended the party.
Stubbs shared a photo on social media of her and Rapinoe, both wearing strikingly similar outfits — an elegant white halter top with matching necklaces.
“We got the memo @mrapinoe,” Stubbs captioned her Instagram Story.
Rene Stubbs recently expressed dissatisfaction with the WTA website being temporarily inaccessible due to maintenance.
On Tuesday, October 3, the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) website was temporarily unavailable due to “essential maintenance,” as stated on the home page.
The WTA website is the primary source of information and news related to women’s tennis. It includes a wide range of features including rankings, live scores, player profiles, tournament draws and more.
However, due to the unexpected outage of the site, fans and media were deprived of access to these features and were forced to find alternative sources or resort to social media to stay updated.
Former doubles world number one Rennae Stubbs took to X (formerly Twitter) to express her frustration with the situation. She lamented the lack of support from the WTA in her efforts to promote the sport. She also shared a screenshot of the WTA homepage showing the maintenance message
“@WTA I work really hard to promote this sport! Can you help me!?” Stubbs posted.
