We must support the Palestinian people, not the factions

Knesset member and head of the United Arab List Mansour Abbas confirmed today, Saturday, that the events of October 7, when Israel witnessed a sudden attack by Hamas, shocked everyone, adding: “We must support the Palestinian people , not the armed factions.”

In an interview with Al-Arabiya he said: “Our condemnation of the October 7 attack comes from our belief in the Islamic movement,” indicating that the Islamic movement within Israel is different from the rest of the movements.

He also said: “We consider any attack against civilians to be prohibited,” adding: “Israel and Hamas deal with each other far from humanity.”

The Israeli Knesset member also criticized Palestinian and Israeli political performance and stressed that Arab-Jewish relations within Israel are at stake.

He said that the Palestinian issue is not dead, stressing that the right path must be taken. He continued: “The Palestinian community within Israel can play a political role.”

The Palestinian Authority must be unified

Furthermore, he said: “We Palestinians act as one state, far from the situation of factions,” adding: “The Palestinian Authority must be unified under the presidency of Mahmoud Abbas.”

He continued: “As Muslims, we must spare civilians from the scourge of war,” stressing that after the war between Israel and Hamas ends, Benjamin Netanyahu’s government will not remain.

Mansour also said: “A truce is not enough and it is necessary to launch a political initiative for a solution,” stressing that there is a consensus within Israel that the war must continue to put an end to Hamas.

He continued: “We must think differently to solve the current crisis,” noting that the military operation in northern Gaza led to the deaths of 15,000 Palestinians, and asking: “Will we pay the price for another Israeli operation in southern Gaza? in exchange for another 15,000?”

4 day truce

Interestingly, a short 4-day truce was agreed between Israel and Hamas, which began yesterday, Friday. Qatar, the main mediator, together with Egypt and the United States, has reached an extendable truce agreement, which provides for the exchange of 50 hostages held in Gaza for 150 Palestinian prisoners in Israel.

Interestingly, Gaza was subjected to bloody Israeli bombardment after the surprise attack launched by Hamas on October 7 on Israeli territory, in which 1,200 people were killed, according to Israeli statistics, and 240 people were captured.

On the Palestinian side, around 15,000 people were killed, most of them civilians, including 6,000 children, while the number of injured exceeded 30,000.
