Wednesday managed to become one of the biggest TV hits of last year, breaking numerous Netflix records and introducing a new generation to the myth of The Addams Family, so it’s not hard to see why so many fans are waiting Wednesday 2, the second season of the show. A series whose main character is Jenna Ortega as the titular teenager, was partly directed by Tim Burton: The beloved horror director actually edited four episodes of the eight-episode season.
In a recent interview with the BFI, Burton on Wednesday offered an update on the already-confirmed second season, promising that even if new episodes are put on hold due to ongoing strikes in Hollywood, he will be involved in some way.
“I mentally paused work until all the strikes ended. I can edit and do whatever I can, but until the veil is lifted, everything will go back to normal. But yes, I will be involved in some way. I’m not entirely sure because at the moment everything is at a standstill.”
No plot details for Wednesday 2 have been revealed yet, although showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar have hinted that they have a serious long-term plan for future seasons of the series.

“For us it’s always about looking to the future, and when we sit down to create a show, ideally it’s multiple seasons.” Gough and Millar explained this in an interview last year. “It was never expected, but you always hope it will be successful. So you’re always looking at at least three or four seasons of potential character arcs. They can develop and change. Often you want to see which characters or cast stand out and who you want to write for. So we want to keep things open and organic enough to be able to change and evolve, but we definitely have a pretty clear idea of what we want to do in future seasons.”
