‘Whatever makes you uncomfortable’ – Gary Lineker recalls betting on Michael Jordan while playing golf in England

Golf can be said to be a 6-time NBA champion Michael Jordansecond love. In addition to basketball and golf, the Chicago Bulls legend also has a passion for gambling. Gary Lineker recalls Jordan trying to intimidate Michael King by placing huge bets on golf.

Gary Lineker looked back on his Michael Jordan story on a recent episode of the Rest is Football podcast. Lineker’s agent John Holmes told him Jordan wanted to play golf at Sunningdale. When he realized there were more people in the NBA icon’s entourage, including Samuel L. Jackson, the football veteran asked his friend and Sunnyvale member Michael King, aka Michael King Queenie Join the party. As Lineker said, Queenie is a shrewd gambler on the golf course. “He said, “Do we want to bet a little bit on this?” Michael Jordan took a drag on his cigar and said, “Sure.” Queenie said, “How much are you willing to pay.” Jordan took a long drag on his cigarette and said, “Whatever makes you uncomfortable,'” Gary Lineker said.

The Tottenham Hotspur legend then admitted he lost to Michael Jordan in the golf tournament. However, his friend Michael King seems to have the best of the Bulls icon. Lineker revealed how Queenie hilariously got Jordan to pay off his debt before leaving England.

After the golf adventure is over, Queenie wants to explain to Jordan and his colleagues that he won and asks him to pay for the bet. “He (Queenie) said: “Let’s put it this way, I cheated him of thousands of dollars.”,” Gary Lineker recalls. Lineker added that Queenie often asked him if he could place bets on guests. The football veteran remembers his friend saying: “Mr. Jordan, in this country, when we play for money, we do tend to pay down debt. He said he (Jordan) went to the car and he said his driver brought over 2,000 pounds or something.“.
