When rookie LeBron James couldn’t stop flirting with pop star Ashanti

In the 2003-04 season, Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James had an impressive rookie season with the Cleveland Cavaliers. While he showed fans what he can do on the court, he also showed off his flirting skills when he paired up with singer-songwriter Ashanti at the awards show.

Twenty years ago, James pulled out all the stops while presenting an award with the famous singer at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards. It was clear that the young star had a crush on Ashanti at the time and made the most of his time with her.

“Wait a minute, wait a minute, everyone, be quiet. Stop the media reporting.” James said. “You know, I may never have a time like this, so there’s something on my mind.

“First of all, you look hot in that pink dress and everyone knows it. Maybe one day I want to rock out with you. Finally, I’m sending you something to come to my first home game How about it?”

Ashanti seemed to just want to present the award, but the King suggested he kiss her first.

“I was thinking maybe we could play a little one-on-one… Since I’m in good shape now, how about a little kiss first?”

At first, Ashanti was hesitant and just wanted to finish presenting the award. But James wouldn’t let the moment slip away, telling the artist he wouldn’t give her the card unless he got a kiss. In the end, the eventual four-time champion got his wish and got a kiss on the cheek.

Shaquille O’Neal hints at LeBron James’ plans with scoring record

Last season was huge for LeBron James. He broke the scoring record previously held by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and became the new historical scoring leader in the NBA. Many thought Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s scoring record would be untouched by anyone, but James proved it can be done.

The 19-time All-Star now has 38,652 points, but his scoring numbers could increase this season. His former teammate Shaquille O’Neal believes LeBron will take the scoring record to a legendary feat that few will be able to achieve in the coming decades.

“He wants to take this record to a place where it will never be broken for the next 60 to 70 years,” O’Neal said.

The current Lakers superstar has a chance to reach the 40,000-point threshold soon. By doing so, he will become the first player to score at least 40,000 points, which may be an impossible feat for future players.
