Serena Williams had a role in a TV series that made fun of Emily Mauresmo’s appearance because she was portrayed as a man.

The American appears in the comedy series MadTV, playing a superheroine named Black Racket in the seventh episode of the show’s 14th season. Williams will be pitted against Emily Mauresmo, played by stand-up comedian Matt Braugher. Mauresmo is known in the series as a “tennis great” and the French “bench press champion.”

In this episode, Serena Williams is tasked with retrieving a document from the Russians, for which she fights and defeats “Emily Mauresmo.” The video was released on November 19, 2008, a few months after the American defeated the French at Wimbledon.

Serena Williams and Amelie Mauresmo have played against each other 12 times, with the United States leading 10-2 in their meetings.

Their first meeting was in the final of the 1999 Gas de France Open, which Williams won 6-2, 3-6, 7-6(4). Interestingly, this is her first WTA singles title. The only finals meeting between Williams and Mauresmo occurred at the same event in 2003, with the U.S. again winning 6-2, 6-3.

Mauresmo’s first victory over Williams was in the semi-finals of the 2003 Italian Open. She won 1-6, 7-5, 6-3. His only victory over the 23-time Grand Slam champion came in the fourth round of the 2004 U.S. Open, when Mauresmo won 6-4, 0-6, 6-2.

This was the only time Amelie Mauresmo defeated Serena Williams in a Grand Slam match. The American beat her five times at Grand Slams, including two Wimbledon semifinals in 2002 and 2004.

The last time the two met was at the Major. It was the third round of the 2008 Wimbledon Championships, and Williams won 7-6(5), 6-1.

Mauresmo had an illustrious tennis career, ranking number one in the world and winning the Australian Open and Wimbledon in 2006. The Frenchwoman retired in 2009.

Serena Williams is one of the greatest players in tennis, having had an illustrious career winning 23 Grand Slam titles. She announced her retirement in 2022, and that year’s U.S. Open was her swan song.

Williams gave birth to her second daughter, Adira, six years after her first daughter, Olympia.
