When will Hackney Diamonds be released?

It’s the band’s first studio album in nearly two decades – and Rolling Stones legends have promised an “explosive new sound.”

Fans are eagerly awaiting the new songs, which will be the first new music released in 18 years.

Hackney Diamonds was announced during a press conference in September at the Hackney Empire. The album features guitarist Ronnie Wood, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards.

In the release, the band also announced their new single Angry, along with a video for the song, which features actress Sydney Sweeney driving around Hollywood in a vintage Ford Mustang.

But with just a few days left until the official release, here’s what you need to know.

When will the album be released and how can I download it?

The album will be released this Friday (October 20) via Polydor Records and will also be available to stream on all major platforms.

But fans need not fear as it has been hinted that they won’t have to wait another 18 years to release more Stones music.

Speaking to NME, Ronnie Woods said: “We’ve got (things) up our sleeve, you know, more music because we recorded about 23 songs and only chose the first 12.

“I don’t think it will last that long (again for new music).”

Fans can pre-order the new album online from sites such as Amazon, HMV Online or the official Rolling Stones website for £11.99. It will also be available on platforms such as Spotify.

What do we know about the album?

Hackney Diamonds will feature 12 songs, all co-written by Jagger and Richards.

The group has also attracted some big names. Lady Gaga and Stevie Wonder feature on the gospel song Sweet Sounds of Heaven, and Paul McCartney plays bass on the rock hit Bite My Head Off.

And the album even features a throwback – original bassist Bill Wyman, who left the band in 1993, appears on the dynamic track Live By The Sword, while Elton John plays piano during the ballad Get Close.
