Where can I get a free flu shot in San Antonio? – San Antonio Telemundo (60)

SAN ANTONIO – University Health Center and Bexar County will offer free flu shots at four drive-thru events.

“We see an increase in respiratory viruses during the summer. The best way to prevent getting sick is to wash your hands frequently and stay up to date on vaccinations,” said Jason Bowling, director of hospital epidemiology at University Health Center.

Bowling said the normal flu season runs from October to April, so now is a good time to protect yourself.

Influenza is a contagious respiratory virus. Experts say adults over 60, children and people who are immunocompromised are at higher risk for serious complications from the flu.

Through these drive-thru events, adults and children 6 months and older can receive flu shots at four locations around the city without leaving their vehicles.

The vaccine is free, but pre-registration is required. People should visit the University Health website to register everyone who has received a flu shot.

Drive-thru flu shots will be available at the following community events:

  • Saturday, September 23, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Freeman Coliseum, 3201 E. Houston Street
  • Saturday, October 7, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Southwest Independent School District, 11914 Long Lane
  • Saturday, October 21, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Dub Farris Athletic Complex, 8400 North Loop 1604 W
