The mystical and desert region of Lut Gholein has its most precious chambers protected by an intimidating demon: Duriel, the Lord of Pain. Finding this villain in the desert is a threatening task, and fighting him is even more so. So where to find and how to defeat Duriel on Diablo 2: Resurrected?
Where to find Duriel: this chief was left by the older Greater Evils to guard the Tomb of Tal Rasha, where Baal corrupted the once great sorcerer. In this funeral prison, you will find Duriel in the Chamber of Tal Rasha. You will open the chamber using the Horadric Staff, which you created in a previous mission.
The boss arena: Many of the boss arenas are restrictive, but the Duriel takes the gold. You walk into the small chamber and you only have a small square of space, a good part of which is occupied by Duriel himself. However, the silver lining is that he doesn’t have minions like some of his other demon allies.

Duriel’s Attacks: This demon relies on strong physical attacks, as well as some key effects that make the player difficult. Emits a freezing aura that damages you and slows your movement speed. He also has a handful of special attacks, such as a heavy attack that he can use on any enemy out of range, or one more that stuns your character. Duriel is faster than he looks and very strong, so he deserves a lot more caution than you might think.
Survival Tips: Between the Small Room and the Relentless Nature of Duriel, there are quite a few tips needed to help you survive. For starters, like his sister Andariel, fighting him head-to-head can be difficult, so try to keep your distance. This can be accomplished by having a melee mercenary take the damage for you or by running both and keeping your distance. However, be careful with the distance. After all, his strongest solo attack is his Charge Heavy Attack, but if you stay close, he won’t use it. The ‘assassin’ class is very good at engaging him because they are fast enough to stay out of his direct attack range without getting far ahead of them to activate his charge attack.
As for consumables, rejuvenation potions are vital. Whether you use them all on yourself or give them to your mercenary to survive longer, they are the easiest way to survive the oppressive attacks of Duriel. Another clever use of consumables is to use a Portal Scroll. Players have used it early in combat so that if you run out of potions or your mercenary dies, you can return to town to heal, resupply, and return to battle.
Lastly, to help combat his cold damage, use as much cold-resistant gear and thawing potions as you can. They won’t nullify your Holy Freeze and you’ll still be slowed, but they do decrease the amount of damage you take. Given the Duriel is a tough boss, these tools can change the game.
