Cinema. What were the films that broke the box office last year? What, on the other hand, are the first months of 2023 marking? Let’s see what the public’s preferences were
On 12 March last was held the 95th Academy Awards, the famous awards that reward cinematographic works released in theaters during the last season. Plebiscite for the film “Everything Everywhere All at Once” which took home 7 statuettes out of a total of 11 nominations, including the award as Best Film, Best Director And Best Original Screenplay.
However, as is often the case, critics and the public don’t always agree. Box office receipts do not reflect the performance of the awards on the “Night of the Hollywood Stars”. If we were to rely only on the box office, the real winners would be others. Let’s go find out.
In first place we find “Top Gun Maverick”, released 36 years after the original. Always protagonist Tom Cruise. The film is a perfect blend of nostalgia effect and fast-paced action. It garnered an Academy Award for Best Sound and five other nominations including Best Movie. It grossed $1,488,732,821.
Following, in second place, there is “Avatar – The Water Way”. Directing again James Cameron who worked extensively on this sequel to the famous 2009 film. We have seen the return of Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana and Sigourney Weaver in their roles. The film promises to take the viewer into a fantastic and innovative world, thanks to cutting-edge shooting technologies and special effects. Gross: $1,193,157,914.
Bronze medal for “Jurassic World: Dominion”. The sixth film of the famous franchise, directed by Colin Trevorrow, marks the end of the saga by joining the original cast (Laura Dern, Sam Neill and Jeff Goldberg) with that of the last chapters (Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard). Reviews from critics were mixed; the public, on the other hand, liked it. The box office, in fact, marks 1,001,978,080 dollars.
The first months of 2023 see for now a film from the Marvel Universe in first position: “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantum Mania”
grossing $419,533,352. In second position there is “Pathaan” with 112,036,189 dollars. In the end, “Creed III”; the box office marks $100,458,008. At the end of the film season we will see what has changed.Publishers Mindscape Developers P.F. Magic Release date 1998 Genre Simulation Game rating Description of the…
