Capstone Software is responsible for the development of the first-person shooter video game Witchaven, which was released by Intracorp Entertainment in 1995. The game is a dark fantasy game. Fortress, the knight Grondoval is sent with the goal of looking for and destroying a witches’ lair in its title. Along the route, he must battle off hordes of hostile monsters. The tale is based on the sword and sorcery genre. Witchaven was renowned for its action role-playing game (RPG) aspects, such as levelling, as well as its particular emphasis on hand-to-hand fighting, which set it apart from the majority of shooters released during that time period. It was built on an early version of the Build engine, which was still in its infancy at the time.
