Not everything when it comes to exclusive Italian supercars comes down to Ferrari, Lamborghini or Pagani. With the permission of the “Holy Trinity” (and without any intention of comparison), in the land that has seen the birth of some of the most passionate works of art on wheels that we know, there is also a place for manufacturers such as Mazzanti, who has just presented in society the Evantra Pure.
With its name it refers directly to pure driving pleasure and upon arrival it has become the model of access to the Evantra family, which was born in 2013. With a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine, the Pura features somewhat “more discreet” features than its siblings, but it is lighter and more technological and also features spectacular performance.
Evocative and loaded with meaning
The Florence Biennale (Italy) has been the setting chosen by Mazzanti to unveil the curious Evantra Pura. Luca Mazzanti himself was commissioned to present his new creature, whose name has been chosen “for the concept that expresses this essential version, light, fast and focused on the real experience of driving without filters. In a word: pure ”, he declared.
We hadn’t heard from Mazzanti since 2016, when he introduced his Evantra Millecavalli to the world at the Turin Motor Show as an extreme version of the already excessive Evantra supercar. Now, with its new version, the small Italian firm surprises with its change of course “towards simplicity”.
With his surname, the Millecavalli already clears from the beginning the possible doubts about the power figure that reaches with a 7.4-liter biturbo V8 custom made under the hood. It is all a hypercar and one of the most powerful road cars that have never left Italy, leading the club of celebrities of the stature of the Ferrari LaFerrari (963 hp combined power), the Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 SuperVeloce (750 hp) or the Pagani Huayra BC (755 hp), among others .
Other more performance versions of the Evantra were the limited editions Evantra 771, Evantra 781, or the beastly Millecavali R.
Not “as” brutal as its predecessors
Compared to its predecessors, the new Evantra Pura is not as brutal and yet still performs brilliantly. Under the hood houses a 6.2-liter V8 engine Supercharged from General Motors origin that replaces the atmospheric 7.0 V8 of the previous version. It is the same as the 781, although in the Pura it is adjusted to achieve a slightly lower power.
Thus, in the Evantra Pura gives 771.5 CV (761 hp) and achieves a torque of 910 Nm at 4300 rpm. Power is sent directly to the rear wheels and is managed by a seven-speed automatic gearbox. With these attributes and a weight of 1,290 kg (90 less than its predecessor) this supercar figures 0 to 100 km / h in 2.9 seconds and is able to reach a maximum speed of 360 km / h.
Like all Evantras, the Pura features a mid-mounted engine and a heavy-duty chassis that combines steel with moly chrome (used in some key sections, such as the roll cage).
It has adjustable MacPherson suspension – as an option – and sits on Michelin tires that wrap OZ wheels and have measurements of 255 / 35R19 on the front axle and 315 / 30R20 on the rear. In addition, it features Brembo carbo-ceramic brakes with 6-piston calipers and 14.9-inch rotors at the front and 4-piston calipers and 14-inch rotors at the rear.
As for the cabin, Mazzanti has improved the design of the previous Evantra and in the Pura it has implemented elements such as digital instrumentation inspired by the world of competition, or an infotainment system that is controlled through a central touch screen placed in vertical position.
In addition, as an option, buyers can select a steering wheel with its own screen that shows key information, such as the gear in which it is driving or the ideal shift times. As is tradition for Mazzanti, almost all other elements of the interior are customizable, and among the options or materials available there are the highest quality leather, carbon fiber or Alcantara in various colors.
The particular livery of the unit that the brand presented and that will be exhibited at the art fair until the end of the month, is the work of @ wraproad.it and is inspired by the Etruscan goddess of immortality, Evantra, depicted on the hood along with the “Biancone”. With its design, it pays homage to the theme of this year’s Florence Biennale, which unites the concepts of femininity in contemporary art and design.
Mazzanti tends to manufacture its cars at a rate of only five units per year in the modern facilities owned by the brand in Pontedera (Pisa, Italy), so the availability of this type of car is highly limited. At the moment, the starting price of this very special supercar has not even transcended.
