In an interview with Games Radar Paul King was talking about Wonka and the possibility of making other films set in the same world.
“Dahl definitely wanted to tell more about Willy Wonka.– the director explained. “There are drafts that have not gone anywhere, a short story“.
Then he added:
He didn’t actually write any sequels, but it was a book that he clearly wanted to develop further. There are other Wonka stories we’d like to tell. (…) I hope it turns out to be a standalone film, but I would definitely like to do something different, spend more time in this world and meet other Oompa-Loompas.
Producer Alexandra Derbushir then added:
I think there would be room for a sequel if people actually liked the film.

The film will be released in US cinemas on December 15 and in Italian cinemas on December 15. December 14.
