Wonka: what will we see in the film with Timothée Chalamet?

ROME – The task is enormous and almost impossible. Based on an outstanding main character Chocolate Factorya novel written in 1964 by Roald Dahl – his masterpiece, as well as one of the best-selling children’s books of all time – and then the protagonist of two absolutely iconic films starring Gene Wilder and Johnny Depp, Wonka will come to the cinema on December 14 to tell the previous part of the story we know, that is, the wonderful story of how the world’s greatest inventor, magician and chocolatier became our beloved acquaintance Willy Wonka. Written and directed by Paul King, writer and director of Diptych. paddington (both highly successful and poised to gross $500 million), the new film will be a blend of magic and music, chaos and emotion in the original show, told with fairytale (and chocolaty) soul and humor.

Paul King's Wonka is in theaters December 14 from Warner Bros.

At the center of the project is him, Timothée Chalamet – later in another remake. Dunes – this time in the face and body of a young Willy Wonka, full of ideas and dreams, determined to change the world one tasty morsel at a time, so that it would be a double (if not triple) remake, not just a literary one. In fact, Dahl’s tale reached the cinema not once, but twice. One in 1971, p. Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory Mel Stewart, where it was the immortal Gene Wilder, as already mentioned, who gave the face and body of Willy Wonka, and another instead in 2005 – Tim Burton with the same name and starring Johnny Depp. Two different interpretations of the character, even in morphology: the warm and insidious Wilder, and at the same time the cold, Machiavellian and almost alien Depp.

Timothée Chalamet is a young Willy Wonka for Paul King

In the middle are the expectations from Chalamet, who, if in his natural colors he seems in balance to be the ideal young Wonka/Depp, then on the other hand, by the inertia of his lifestyle, is a direct daughter of Wonka/Wilder. It’s all wrapped up in a magical coming-of-age story about discovering the world fueled by your dreams. A potential (and more than likely) instant cult favorite of the festival period, if only for this new Hugh Grant as the cheeky Oompa-Loompa really waiting to be discovered. In addition to Chalamet and Grant, the cast will also include Matt Lucas, Matthew Baynton, Sally Hawkins, Rowan Atkinson (aka Mr. Bean), Jim Carter and Olivia Colman (!). All we have to do is wait…
