World Paralympic Swimming Championships, Cannibale Barlaam surpasses everything imaginable: six gold medals and a style 50 record!

Italy’s victory in the overall medal table was by no means clear, the 22 Italian athletes called – with some important absences – had to face the Ukrainian team (with 41 athletes), hosts Great Britain (29 athletes) and a very strong China (25 athletes), the final record result: 26 gold, 15 silver and 11 bronze.

With the team title already in his pocket, Simon Barlaam stamps with a WR: 23.96, becoming the first man under 24 seconds in this specialty.

Once again, Barlaam, with a sensational fourth faction, stamped this extraordinary expedition, taking the 4x100SL 34P relay to the twenty-sixth gold medal, which testifies to the total dominance of the blue team.

Morlacchi: I still don’t understand what the problem could be, probably the fact that I was swimming in the side lane attracted the attention of the judges more. It’s a pity because it was a decent race for my current abilities. It was another great world championship with the team which I hope will help bring girls and boys closer to Paralympic swimming.

Raimondi: An incredibly positive World Cup, I didn’t come in perfect shape and I can only celebrate and thank all the people who were by my side. I was confident in my abilities, but then I had to go out on the water and refine it. Now I just need a lot of rest.

Menciotti: I gave everything, I had nothing more to celebrate. After three fourth places, I was waiting for a medal, my adrenaline was off scale, I was looking for a podium at all costs, and it came.
