The New York-based photographer and the Spanish brand are strengthening their close relationship. Inditex President Marta Ortega has already dedicated a retrospective to the work of Steven Meisel in A Coruña in 2023. And at the end of this summer, Zara and Steven Meisel worked on a joint collection.

The capsule, entitled “Steven Meisel New York,” is a true declaration of love from the photographer to his city. The creative didn’t hesitate to reach out to his (numerous) contacts to create a black and white photo campaign featuring the collection. In total, 26 celebrities recurrent in his career passed before his lens: his muse Linda Evangelista, as well as legendary top models and modern models such as Amber Valletta, Liya Kebede, Irina Shayk, Gigi Hadid, Kaia Gerber, Penelope Tree. , Eva Herzigova, Elton Mason, Ash Stymest and Scott Barnhill.
To create the collection’s images, Steven Meisel invited some of his loyal employees, who also often work with Zara. Hair was done by Carl Templer and makeup was done by celebrity favorite makeup artist Pat McGrath. The unsurpassed Guido Palau took care of the hairstyle.

Designed to reflect the famed photographer’s style and personality, this limited edition collection for men and women is inspired by Steven Meisel’s wardrobe and reflects his obsessions and extravagance. Premium style items will be offered at affordable prices, including jeans, a hoodie, a parka, a leather hat, a bandana and a pair of black lace-up boots.
The influence of Steven Meisel’s work is reflected in the 1960s references that run throughout the collection and are reflected throughout his work. So, the photographer conceived a coat made of synthetic leather, a leather shirt or trousers with a drawstring fastener. The music is also present, bringing in some grunge notes in the form of a plaid shirt. Also reproduced is one of the photographer’s ’90s fashion editorials, which features an iconic look consisting of an oversized second-skin denim jacket adorned with sequins. The spider design on the T-shirts is reminiscent of Steven Meisel’s early years as a fashion illustrator.

The collection, available from Monday 18 September on Zara’s website and in select physical boutiques, will be presented in two temporary locations to boost sales during Fashion Weeks. Through September 13th, the capsule items will be sold at 33 Howard Street in the SoHo neighborhood of New York City. From 15 to 17 September the products will be delivered to Dover Street Market in London.
