Chinese manufacturer ZTE will announce on September 1, 2020, its new top-of-the-line smartphone, the ZTE Axon 20 5G. The device would not normally receive that much attention, but it will have a differentiator: it is the first commercial model in the world to have a front camera under the screen.

This means that the device will have the panel completely “clean” from distractions, with no holes or notches at the edges. ZTE has not explained what the technology behind the Axon 20 5G will look like but is expected to reveal more details at the conference.

To be able to capture photos normally, it is necessary to use special materials on the display and also work around some problems, such as being able to take portraits in low light environments.

It will become fashionable

The company is not the only one that was researching this possibility: brands like Xiaomi and Oppo have already exhibited prototypes that “hid” the sensor for selfies below the screen. According to recent rumors, this design should be popularized in 2021, especially on devices not yet announced processor Snapdragon 875, of Qualcomm.

It is worth remembering that ZTE, like Huawei, is threatened by the Western market after entering the US trade ban lists. The manufacturer is accused by the Donald Trump government of being a threat to national security through espionage and data collection practices.
