32 ridiculous things rich people say

8.

“When wealthy businessmen/entrepreneurs claim that not paying their fair share of taxes helps them invest in their community and create jobs. Everyone has to pay PERIOD.”

“Bezos won’t create Amazon if poor people don’t fund the roads and bridges he can use to deliver packages. Or if we don’t create an Internet for him to sell these packages. education to prepare a capable workforce to build a company for him. Or if we hadn’t paid the cops to stop people from disinheriting him.

The rich benefit disproportionately from tax funds and should be forced to pay disproportionately into the tax base as they get richer. Not to ‘punish’ their success, but to make it possible.”

“If you lower corporate taxes, they will hire more people.” Never works. Why hire more people than you need?”

“The rich already spend what they want. You only need a certain number of houses, cars, etc. Giving more money to the rich in the form of tax cuts, subsidies, etc. only leads to greater wealth inequality, as we have seen happening since about 1980.

It’s the same with corporations. Large corporations are already at an equilibrium point in terms of meeting the demand of their customers. Giving more money to large corporations won’t force them to expand and/or increase compensation for their employees (lol, who the hell believed they would do that?) They will increase salaries for owners/investors/shareholders, etc. They will manipulate the market to its own advantage through stock buybacks, which were legalized around the time Reagan began implementing his trickle-down economic policies. Although I’m sure it was just a coincidence, wasn’t it?”
