Several Marvel Cinematic Universe series may finally be exploring what happened during the Blip. After Thanos took away half of the universe’s population in Avengers: Infinity Warall hope seemed lost for the heroes of the MCU, as the world was plunged into five years of darkness before the snap of the Hulk of Avengers: Endgame bring everyone back. “The Blip” was a historic moment in the MCU, but since the beginning of the Multiverse Saga, the world-changing event has barely been mentioned, leading many to ask for a series set during the Blip in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which could explore what actually happened in the five-year time jump of Avengers: Endgame.

Even if Phase 4 projects like WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Eternals And Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness dealt with the aftermath of the Blip in a variety of ways, Marvel Studios has all but avoided detailing what actually happened in those five years. Avengers: Endgame gave viewers a small overview of the Blip, but the extent of the devastation was virtually ignored. The Blip was such an important moment in history, so it’s strange that Marvel Studios chose to quietly bypass it, but there are five upcoming and potential projects that would be perfect to tell the story of the Blip.
Here are 5 Marvel Cinematic Universe series that could explore the Blip
1. Secret Invasion among the Marvel Cinematic Universe series that could explore the Blip
Secret Invasion was officially announced at Disney’s 2020 Investor Day presentation, and will center on Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige later revealed in May 2022 that Secret Invasion will be set during the Blip, rather than concurrent with the current timeline of the Marvel Cinematic universe. This will provide audiences with the best taste of life during the Blip, as no previous MCU project has been set entirely during the period, and it’s still unclear if Secret Invasion will take place entirely during the Blip.
Since Secret Invasion faces a secret Skrull invasion of Earth, it’s unknown how much focus will be placed on world exploration during the Blip. The series will mark the first time viewers get a proper glimpse into life in the aftermath of Thanos’ snap, which is made all the more exciting thanks to the series’ projected 2023 release date. However, that could also pose significant problems. for the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe, since Nick Fury and Maria Hill were kidnapped in Thanos’ attack, so Marvel Studios needs to explain how they can show up during the Blip, possibly revealing they’re Skrulls.

In Marvel Comics, marvels was a four-issue series published in 1994 detailing the doings of Marvel’s superheroes from the perspective of one character, news photographer Phil Sheldon. The series was a starting point for Marvel Comics, as readers were able to experience some iconic adventures from a more relatable point of view, as they followed Sheldon’s life between 1939 and 1974. Although no mention was made of the Marvel’s adaptation for the MCU, this would be a brilliant comic series to be adapted into live-action, exploring the effects of Thanos’ snap and the subsequent return of the populace from the point of view of a normal human being.
While marvels has spawned several sequels and spin-offs, including the much darker one ruins in 1995, the original series saw Sheldon react to the rise of heroes such as Namor, the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, the X-Men and Spider-Man. The heroes’ battles with life-threatening threats like Galactus are also featured prominently, though the stories are always told from Sheldon’s point of view as he tries to keep his family safe in a very dangerous world. A series like Marvels in the MCU would be a fantastic way to showcase the effects of the Blip in real-world life, as the event not only impacted heroes, but ordinary people as well.
3. Season 2 of Hawkeye among the Marvel Cinematic Universe series that could explore the Blip
Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe saw the introduction of Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop in Hawkeye, a young archer who becomes drawn into the heroic world of Clint Barton after accidentally wearing the Ronin costume. Barton’s journey to become Ronin during the Blip is one of the MCU’s most tragic storylines, since Avengers: Endgameit started with him losing his entire family to Thanos’ snap, though his activities as Ronin haven’t really been fleshed out. Barton is known to have traveled the world to take down criminal organizations that he felt didn’t deserve to be spared, which included targeting the Tracksuit Mafia.
Although season 2 of Hawkeye hasn’t been announced, should it go into development, it would be great to see more of Barton’s life during the Blip and perhaps solidify his connection to Wilson Fisk. Hawkeye and Kate Bishop’s stories are more likely to continue on the big screen, as the writer of Avengers: The Kang DynastyJeff Lovenes has all but confirmed Clint Barton’s involvement in the Phase 6 film, assuming Jeremy Renner makes a full recovery from the recent crash. Nonetheless, there’s a lot about Barton’s past as Ronin that audiences are curious about, so setting a few moments during the Blip would be great for his character development.
4. Daredevil: Born Again
Charlie Cox reprized his role of Matt Murdock aka Daredevil from the series Dare devil of Netflix, in Spider-Man: No Way Homebefore making another appearance in She-Hulk: Attorney at Lawbefore the next adventures in Echo and its first standalone MCU series, Daredevil: Born Again. With a series of 18 episodes, Daredevil: Born Again has the perfect opportunity to explore what life was like during the Blip, though this hasn’t been confirmed by Marvel Studios yet. The general assumption is that Matt Murdock fell victim to Thanos’ snap, which would have created a vacuum in the NYC vigilante scene, allowing crime to escalate over the five-year period.
Reuniting with Cox is Vincent D’Onofrio, who played Wilson Fisk, aka the Kingpin, in Dare deviland then in Hawkeye of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Daredevil: Born Again may explain Fisk’s rise to power in the MCU, as five years without Daredevil thwarting his plans would give him the best opportunity to become crime boss supervillain. Kingpin’s exploits during the Blip are to be explored in Daredevil: Born Again, and you can also show the effect of the Blip on Daredevil, although this will likely be in a flashback dimension, as Born Again will resume after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home And She-Hulkin the current MCU timeline.
5. Frontline among the Marvel Cinematic Universe series that could explore the Blip
Similarly to marvelsthe series Frontline of Marvel Comics would be a great way to explore the impact of Thanos’ snap on the world, although the stories of Frontline are told from the perspective of journalists embedded within Marvel’s superhero ranks. Frontline debuted in 2006 along with the event Civil War of Marvel, with reporter Ben Urich placed in Iron Man’s camp with pro-registration heroes and Sally Floyd residing with Captain America. The first series concludes with Urich and Floyd starting their own news channel, called Front Line, which leads them to investigate further adventures with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes between 2006 and 2010.
Frontline was later released alongside the storylines of World War Hulk, Secret Invasion And Siege from Marvel Comics, with Urich and Floyd recounting the heroes’ adventures firsthand. It would be nice to see him in the MCU, especially in relation to the Blip, as the story of Avengers: Infinity War And Avengers: Endgame could be told from a whole new perspective, as Urich and Floyd deal with the impact of Thanos’ snap on their personal lives as well. Urich was previously played by Vondie Curtis-Hall in the series Dare devil of Netflix, so there is precedent for his character’s return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, despite his death in season 1 of Dare devil.
