Birds of Prey starring Margot Robbie director Cathy Yan to write and direct The Freshening, new sci-fi comedy. In the official cast, still not fully revealed, we will also see John Boyega. .
The actor is known for be in movies like The Woman King (2022), Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015) Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019), but also for The Circle (2017) with Tom Hanks and Emma Watson.
For Yan, being able to work with Boyega is: “a dream: he is a unique talent in his commitment and in his constructions, and in his willingness to give unforgettable and varied performances. I know he will be able to give a great depth and numerous nuances to Reese. I am excited for his presence on this mad journey”.
Instead, speaking of the film, the director stated that: “The Freshening is exactly that kind of movie bold and timely that excites me both as a screenwriter and as a director. I am delighted to be able to work with like-minded collaborators Ash and I, from Ali Wong to FlimNation, to bring this bold and impactful story to the big screen.”
The Freshening will be thefilm adaptation of Rachel Khong’s short story (namesake), entirely written and directed by Yan. The production instead will be entrusted to FilmNation Entertainment (Ali Wong and Adam McKay, Cathy Yan and Ash Sarohia (Rwild) and Betsy Koch (Hyperobject).
