Director Kevin Smith is convinced Ben Affleck could reprise the role of Batman in the future, following his experience with Andy Muschietti’s The Flash.

Talking about the hypothesis during his Fatman Beyond podcast, the filmmaker recalled how the actor loved The Dark Knight.

Commenting on The Flash’s theatrical release, Kevin Smith said: “It was a pleasure to see Bane back as Batfleck, not only as Batfleck but also as Bruce Wayne. Lo said in a couple of interviews that his reaction was, ‘I just figured out how to play this character and that character and now it’s all over. It is a bit sour-sweet situation. But he got a chance to do it before everything is over because he has said many times that he is not coming back to play Batman. There is a multiverse now and you will know what is going to happen. I can imagine a world, ten years from now, after he’s had other experiences and done other things, where he returns to the role…,

Smith continued: “I know Ben really loves The Dark Knight Returns. Like most of us, but during the filming of Chasing Amy he read that story sitting on the floor of my apartment, sleeping on the couch and all. And he always said, ‘Why can’t somebody make a fucking movie out of this?’ And it came really close when Zack Snyder made Batman v Superman. He was able to wear armor and everything, there were elements of that story… so I can’t imagine if someone, ten years from now, had a lot of money and told a nearly 60-year-old Ben Affleck ‘what You want to act in The Dark Knight Returns?’, he refused. He could have said yes and it would have been wonderful. But for now he will have to put the role aside and looks like he is enjoying playing it,
