Indeed, the Sportico ranking is clear: Ferrari is worth $3.13 billion, followed by Mercedes with $2.7 billion, followed by Red Bull ($2.42 billion), McLaren ($1.56 billion) and Aston Martin ($1.14 billion). Alpine (1.08), AlphaTauri ($905 million), Alfa Romeo (815), Williams (795) and Haas (710) round out the top 10.
And, digging still further into Sportico Analysis’s accounts, we find out that the set of 10 teams is valued at $15.3 billion and Ferrari has a turnover of $504 million for 2022 with a profit of $50 million. Mercedes, on the other hand, made the biggest profit last season, which was $114 million. And there are three teams that posted losses last season, led by Aston Martin (minus $55 million), followed by Williams (minus $12 million) and McLaren (minus $8 million). Income? They come from prize money and sponsorships.
According to the report, the value of teams has increased in recent times, one of the reasons being the growing popularity of the sport in the United States, driven by the Netflix series “Formula 1. Drive to Survive”. And it should be noted that Alpine has raised $218 million for a 24% stake in the team, with investors including actors Ryan Reynolds, Rob McElhenney and Michael B. Jordan. This explains why there are currently two F1 races in the United States, in Austin, Texas and Miami. And that’s why next season will see a third race debut in Las Vegas – no other country has more than two F1 races.
