It’s called “Britney in Versace”, it’s the new single of Lucia from Catania (born Lucia Rizzo), available on all digital streaming platforms. Distinguished by a catchy summary sound, the song is dedicated to the freedom to “be and be yourself” despite the outward and superficial orders of a society of appearances. The single “Britney in Versace” written by Lucia (in collaboration with Manuel Finotti, Alfredo Bruno and Carlota Foddanu) comes out as the official video clip directed by Catania with the publication on the social networks of the artist. Choreography by Kage Moss and Dan Danato and Anthony Finochiaro (Danielle Caruso, Francesco Suriano, Vincenzo Privittera and Simone Coco – dancers). Since her debut with “Dentro Questo Casa”, a single and video clip with a markedly introspective atmosphere, Lucia has received critical acclaim from critics and the public. We interviewed him.
“My new single ‘Britney in Versace’ is a hymn to the freedom to be yourself. It is an invitation to love and be loved by each other. Do not let yourself be influenced by the critical words of others. To give myself the right to shine, to look in the mirror and smile at any imperfections, to enjoy a little healthy, blissful lightness. I will perform it live at various events and soon I will officially present it in Rome, which I now consider my second city. How did your passion for music and singing in general begin and grow?
“I have wonderful memories as a child in the vinyl room that my father always loved to collect. Listening to music with your parents, admiring record covers, mesmerized by watching the record player’s needle slide from one groove of the vinyl to the next to reveal a new song was something magical. And I guess I started singing for love. It was my mom’s birthday and I was still a kid and I wanted to give her a special gift, an unforgettable surprise like in the movies. And then I organized a small concert. At that time our relatives and family friends started saying to my parents: ‘Have you ever thought of letting Lucia take singing lessons?’ Yes, it is the origin of my love for music and singing.”
– who are your “teachers” and therefore who are your reference artists,
“I love singers who can actually sing. In Italian music, my idol is Elisa: I admire her voice and her songs. However, as far as the international scene goes, I recently saw Coldplay and my love for them, which was already immense, has grown even more. I love Lady Gaga because she is such an authentic, versatile and talented artist. I really like young American singers, including Olivia Rodrigo: I really admire the way they experiment with different styles”.
– What is the function of music nowadays or what impact it can have on our lives, in your opinion?
“Music is food for the soul and it has always accompanied, saved, raised, improved people in their life path. If you think back to certain periods, the song that was playing on the radio at the time or that you listened to when you were almost exhausted comes to mind. Music, even if only in the background, is an ever-evolving beauty given to our lives”.
future projects?
“I am working on my first album and have already recorded a new single which will be released in autumn. It’s a song I wrote in a very vulnerable moment, but I can’t hope for anything else.
