Directorate-General increases control personnel in the area
Sources from the Ministry of Climate Action reported to Europa Press that the number of poultry farms and subsistence farms increased by 22 and 180 respectively due to cases of bird flu in Deltebre and El Perelló (Tarragona).
Last week they found two more terns who died of bird flu, adding to the cases detected in the past three weeks, reports “Nació Digital”.
Faced with this situation, the ministry has increased the number of people responsible for control in the region, although they say this has not been done through new staff.
Government sources stressed that farms and self-consumption “are aware that they are a transit area for birds”, so they took the necessary measures in the event of bird flu and, in their words, they were very careful.
“There are more cases and more infected wild birds so we are more vigilant about this situation,” they explained, although they continue to view the current situation as normal.

The government has warned that it is important that the disease “does not spread to farm birds”, so the ministry has emailed the department notifying different cases so that precautionary measures can be taken to avoid contagion.
Once one of these cases is detected, a protocol is activated within a 10km zone around where the birds are located, and poultry farms must take precautionary measures within 30 days of being notified of the suspicion.
Some of these measures are banning the use of Anseriformes and Sauriformes as hunting bait; prohibiting the mixing of ducks and geese with other birds, and prohibiting the production and rearing of free-range poultry.
