Casting for Marvel’s Fantastic Four begins as likely candidates for the roles of Sue and Johnny Storm are revealed.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe appears to have found Sue Storm and Johnny Storm, along with Vanessa Kirby and Joseph Quinn, in talks to join the cast of Marvel’s Fantastic Four. Before the start of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, director Matt Shackman said that Marvel’s Fantastic Four would begin filming in early 2024 for a 2025 release. However, Marvel later moved the Fantastic Four from February to May 2025, so filming is likely to start even later. Also, with the strikes still going on, Marvel can’t continue to play the Fantastic Four. Despite this, a new report has emerged.

Above the Line’s Jeff Snyder says Marvel Studios is referring to Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm (aka ‘The Invisible Woman’) and Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm (aka ‘Human Torch’) in the film “Fantastic Four”, indicating that they are in a winning position for these roles. As of press time, Marvel, Kirby and Quinn have not commented on the report.

Both Vanessa Kirby and Joseph Quinn were rumored to be longtime favorites to play Sue and Johnny Storm. In particular, Quinn was well received by fans after playing lead character Eddie Munson in the fourth season of Stranger Things. Although Snyder initially revealed that Jack Quaid was rumored to play Johnny Storm, it was later confirmed that Quinn was the actor he had in mind. Also, Vanessa Kirby was a name revolving around the character of Sue Storm, she was among a number of possible names such as Margot Robbie and Mila Kunis for the lead role of the Fantastic Four as the Invisible Woman.

It’s important to note that Above The Line is the first casting rumor for Marvel’s Fantastic Four movie, which could be the key to the veracity of this particular report. With any luck, Kirby and Quinn’s reps will soon confirm the news, although it can only be confirmed after the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes. Either way, there will still be two roles in the Fantastic Four cast as it looks like Marvel Studios is still looking for new Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic) and Ben Grimm (The Thing).
