Hersha Parady will live forever in audiences’ memories as Alice Garvey, a teacher at Walnut Grove School.
The interpreter of iconic series “The Ingalls” (“Little House on the Prairie”) has died at the age of 78.
The American translator’s son, Jonathan Peverall, confirmed the news to The Hollywood Reporter on Thursday, Aug. 24.
The actress reportedly died at her son’s home in Norfolk, Virginia, where she had moved due to ill health.
Hersha Parady, born Betty Sandhoff on May 25, 1945 in Berea, Ohio, is an actress best known for her role in the TV series Little House on the Prairie known as the “Ingalls Family” in Latin America.
Throughout the series, Hersha Parady played the role of Alice in 35 episodes. In the two-hour special “May We Make Them Proud,” which aired on February 4, 1980, Alice’s character was tragically killed in a fire at a school for the blind while trying to rescue Mary and Adam’s young son .
Although this is his most famous role, it wasn’t the first in his career. After graduating from Berea High School in 1963, he dabbled in acting at the Cleveland Playhouse and Regional Theatre.

“During the first week of recovery we were optimistic as he seemed to be able to regain most of his functions. However, at some point during the hospital she developed pneumonia and had to be sent back to the hospital. She even needed Ventilators,” she wrote in an update to her fundraising page.
