Dune 2 director obsessed with details of Josh Brolin’s character

It looks like Dune 2 will be even more faithful to Frank Herbert’s book, in at least one particular detail regarding Josh Brolin’s character Gurney Halleck. And it is this detail that director Denis Villeneuve has become a little obsessed with. Indeed, this is what the director wanted to include in the first film, but could not, instead inserting it into a new chapter.

Gurney Halleck, aka Josh Brolin, will be a key character in Dune 2.

The sequel will focus on Paul Atreides, who joins Chani and Fremeny to avenge what happened to his family. The film will return Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Charlotte Rampling, Javier Bardem and Brolin, who, as it turns out, will finally play Basilet.

In the world of Dune, the basilet is a nine-string musical instrument that Gurney Halleck is an expert on, but in the first movie, Brolin didn’t show him playing it because the scene was cut from the movie version. Luckily, there will be a scene in Dune 2 where the character shows off her skills, as Villeneuve teased in an interview with Empire, admitting she’s been obsessed with him for a while now:

“Gurney’s song survived the second part! It has become a strange priority for me. But Josh Brolin is a poet and we played it together. It was great.”

John Brolin’s character Gurney Halleck is one of the most important characters in the world of Dune, thanks to his role as a staunch ally of House Atreides, a warrior loyal to both Leto and Paul, and one of the latter’s mentors, whom he helps to become a great fighter. And it’s promising to hear that a little more light will be reflected in the sequel.

The importance of the new additions to Dune. Part 2 Most of the original cast will return in the highly anticipated sequel, but they won’t be the only important characters in this new adventure. The second part of “Dune” will also include new faces that will complement the story with both good and bad characters.

Florence Pugh is one of the stars who will join the saga in the sequel, playing Princess Irulan Corrino, daughter of Emperor Shaddam IV, played by another newcomer, Christopher Walken. She is a scientist and strategist, a smart and strong woman in a world engulfed in chaos.

Léa Seydoux will also play an important role in the film. Lady Margot Fenring is the Emperor’s friend who spends a lot of time in the Harkonnen household, but has many secrets and a special mission to complete.

But there is no doubt that one of the most significant additions to the film is Austin Butler, who will play the main villain in the sequel. Surprising the world with his portrayal of the king of rock and roll in Elvis, Butler channels his dark side into the role of Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, nephew and heir to Baron Vladimir Harkonnen. Known to fans of the books, Fade-Raut is a dangerous and ruthless fighter, ready to do anything to stop Paul Atreides and Fremeny.

The release of the second part of “Dune” was recently postponed to March 15, 2024.
