Cruella 2, release date, plot and everything we know about the sequel

Following the success of Emma Stone’s Cruella, a sequel was quickly approved.

Will there be a sequel to Cruella 2? Here is a possible plot and release date

Unlike the remake of the previous Disney animated film, Cruella was a unique interpretation and prequel based on the main antagonist of 101 Dalmatians.

Given that Cruella was released in theaters and on Disney+ in 2021, it was a hit with audiences and critics alike.

After the release of Cruella, a spokesman for Disney stated that it was “one of our most popular live-action film re-adaptations”:

“The film was incredibly well received by audiences around the world, with a Rotten Tomatoes viewership rating of 97% and CinemaScore ‘A’ ratings in every age group in its opening weekend, making it one of our most popular feature films. -adaptation.

This opened up an opportunity for Disney to move forward with Cruella 2.

Cruella 2 release date: when will it be released?

Shortly after its release on May 18, 2021, Deadline reported that Cruella 2 was being worked on by director Craig Gillespie and writer Tony McNamara, who are set to return.

According to makeup artists Nadia Stacey and Julia Vernon, who spoke with Variety, they will also be returning for Cruella 2.

On the red carpet at the 94th Academy Awards, Stacey said she hoped she would “take her back to the 80s”:

“Now they are working on the script. My only hope: I don’t know anything, but I hope we’re entering the 80s… get some curlers, more perms. We have to explore a whole new era.”

The script is currently in the works (perhaps on hiatus due to the Writers Guild of America strike) and production has yet to begin.

At the time of writing, it has been revealed that Cruella 2 won’t be released until 2025 at the earliest.

Cruella 2 Cast: Will Emma Stone Return?

Cruella 2, release date, plot and everything we know about the sequel

As young Estella Miller, aka Cruella de Vil, Emma Stone will return in Cruella 2.

In August 2021, Deadline reported that Stone had signed on to star in the sequel.

Patrick Whitesell, Executive Chairman of Endeavor, shared his thoughts on agency client Stone and his deal with Cruella 2:

“We are proud to be working with Emma and Disney and appreciate the studio’s willingness to acknowledge her contribution as a creative partner.”

What will happen in Cruella 2? Scenario

In order to predict the possible plot of Cruella 2, it is important to sum up the finale of the first film.

At the end of the film, the main antagonist, the Baroness (played by Emma Thompson), is arrested on suspicion of killing Estella, who (actually) survived by parachuting off a cliff.

In the final episode, the Baroness is forcibly placed in a police car and vows revenge on Cruella. He knows that Estella and Cruella are the same person, and that knowledge has eluded everyone else.

In the future, the Baroness is likely to escape from prison and gain freedom, driven by the desire to take revenge on Cruella.

In addition, Cruella has taken over the Baroness’s residence, now called “Infernal Hall” (a tribute to the original) and is likely to feature prominently in the film.

Cruella’s development as the dog-killer villain in the 101 Dalmatians story will be interesting to develop if that’s the path Disney takes.

The sequel may delve further into the fashion industry, exploring ideas of pitting faux fur against real fur, which ultimately fuels Cruella’s obsession.

Other returning characters could include Cruella’s henchmen Horace and Jasper, as well as Roger (Kyvan Novak) and Anita (Kirby Howell-Baptiste). During the film’s end credits, Cruella gives two Dalmatians Pongo and Perdita.

In the original, Roger and Anita fall in love, and their dogs Pongo and Perdita give birth to the 15 puppies that Cruella wants. It’s a bit twisted in “Cruella” that you give away dogs that (might) end up wanting to kill their puppies.

On the other hand, as Roger sings: “If she doesn’t scare you, no evil will scare you!”
