Four women, including one who was just 16 at the time, have accused actor and comedian Russell Brand of sexual assault and rape.
The allegations against Brand were made as in a magazine article Times UK than in an episode of a Channel 4 detective program Departures. We are talking about a seven-year period, from 2006 to 2013, during which Brand was also married to Katy Perry, from 2010 to 2012.
Among the most serious allegations is that against a woman who was in a three-month relationship with the then 31-year-old star Take him to the Greek, he would have been 16 years old. The woman said Brand was “emotionally and sexually abused” during their time together and at one point “forced his penis down her throat,” causing her to choke. Before the article was published and the episode premiered, Brand took to social media on Friday to post a video proactively defending himself against the upcoming “extremely egregious and aggressive attacks” that I “completely reject.”
“These allegations relate to the period when I worked in the mainstream, when I was always in newspapers, when I acted in films. And because I wrote a lot in my books, I was very, very promiscuous,” Brand said in the video. “Now, during that period of promiscuity, the relationships I had were always consensual, I was always transparent about it then—almost too transparent—and I still am.”

Brand, who in recent years has moved from acting and comedy to podcasting about anti-vaxxers and conspiracy theories, continued: “I don’t mind them using my books and my speech to talk about my promiscuous and consensual behavior in the past.” . But I categorically deny these very serious criminal charges. It’s also worth remembering that there are witnesses whose testimony directly contradicts the narrative that these two mainstream media outlets are trying to build in what appears to me to be a coordinated attack.”
