In honor of Black History Month, RLS Media turns the spotlight on Michael Bakari Jordan, an acclaimed American actor with close ties to Newark, NJ Contact, I was lucky enough to have him as a student there. 
Jordan, 32, has carved out an impressive career in Hollywood, known for roles in “Fruitville Station,” “Tenet” and starring in Ryan Coogler’s “Black Panther” starring the unforgettable Eric Killmonger.
Jordan was born in California but grew up in Newark, where he began his career at Newark High School for the Arts, where he played varsity basketball.
His rise in the acting world has been marked by critically acclaimed performances that have drawn comparisons to greats like Denzel Washington.
However, what truly sets Jordan apart is his commitment to giving back to the Newark community.
To reflect this dedication, Jordan generously donated thousands of free Black Panther movie tickets to Newark’s youth, ensuring local children can experience the magic of the film.
His ongoing efforts to inspire students to pursue their dreams was demonstrated in a surprise visit to Ballinger High School in Newark, in collaboration with the Dream Director of The Future Project.
Jordan’s rise to fame has been lauded by People, Variety, Time, Entertainment Weekly and GQ, all of which have recognized his influence on and off the screen.
His portrayal of Adonis Creed in “Tenet” won critical acclaim and confirmed his status as a leading figure in contemporary cinema.
