Selena Gomez was in full swing at her first Rare Impact Fund charity event on Wednesday, wearing a purple hand-embroidered dress by designer Rahul Mishra.

The floral minidress, with loose, sculpted details reminiscent of the petals of a lush flower, featured thousands of carefully placed amethyst-colored sequins that flowed over the star’s shoulders and neck and cascaded down to mid-thigh.

Gomez hosted the “Night of Shine and Reflect” gala event in Los Angeles, with all tickets and other proceeds going to support the Rare Impact Fund, an organization that launched in July 2020 with the goal of “expanding access to mental health care.” services and education for youth around the world,” the foundation says on its website.

The fund was launched in collaboration with her cosmetics line Rare Beauty, of which 1% of all sales are donated to the fund. And ahead of the event, Gomez posted a video on Instagram confirming that on October 10, World Mental Health Day, all proceeds from sales of Rare Beauty in Sephora stores will benefit the foundation, which hopes to raise $100 million over the next 10 years.

“This is an issue that has become very close to my heart,” Gomez said in a CNN article marking World Mental Health Day 2020.

“I strive to use my voice to help reduce the stigma associated with talking about mental health and encourage people to celebrate their uniqueness.”
