There’s no shortage of celebrities who have given up drinking in search of a healthier lifestyle, but Adele has given us a refreshingly candid account of what it’s really been like for her.
I Drink Wine The singer told the crowd during one of her Las Vegas appearances that she quit drinking three and a half months ago, but isn’t enjoying her newfound sobriety *quite* as much as some other sober celebrities.
“This is boring,” Adele told the crowd (via report from Daily mail). “I mean, I was literally borderline alcoholic for most of my twenties, but I miss it so much.”
The singer then added to a crowd member who was enjoying a cocktail at the time: “So enjoy your whiskey sour. I’m very, very jealous.”
Adele isn’t alone: there’s a sobriety revolution happening right now: a study by non-alcoholic spirits brand Three Spirit found that six million people swapped their usual drink of choice for a non-alcoholic Dry January alternative last year, while a number of sober and sober and curious celebrities seems to be growing quickly.
Talking about being a “borderline alcoholic”, Adele previously revealed that during the UK lockdown period in 2020, she once drank four bottles of wine before dinner.
She explained in an interview with the publication Daily Star: “I remember when I came here in Covid lockdown it was 11am and I definitely had four bottles of wine like the rest of us.
“In 2020, I said I wanted to release my album. And we were all just drunk at home.”
While Adele didn’t reveal the exact reasons why she decided to give up alcohol, she also added that she recently gave up caffeine as well. Adele has spoken about her desire to have a child with Rich Paul and is no doubt making her health a priority.
Back in 2022, Adele spoke about her desire to expand her family during an appearance at Desert Island Discs, saying, “I would definitely like a couple more kids. That would be great. If not, then I have Angelo.”
