Pietra Ligure/Norway. She was born in Pietra Ligure Alexandra Mele, singer now with Norwegian citizenship who is conquering the world with song. With her “Queen of the Kings” she will participate in Eurovision 2023, singing event to be held from 9 to 13 May in the United Kingdom. The curious note is that an Italian version of this song has also been released, which can already be heard on YouTube. Three days after its release, the views have already exceeded 160,000 views.

“Queen of the Kings” – of which she herself also made an Italian version – will represent Norway at the Eurovision Song Contest 2023. But why Norway and not Italy? Alessandra, just 20 years old, was born in Pietra Ligure and raised in Cisano sul Neva, where she completed her studies, but she then moved to the Nordic country, her mother’s homeland. In fact, half Italian blood flows in the veins of the young Mele (her father is originally from Albenga) and half Norwegian.

But we have already heard of her: last year attended at the seventh edition of Norwegian version of “The Voice”. After high school Alessandra Mele decided to leave for Oslo to enroll in the conservatory and try her adventure at “The Voice Norge”. She has some relatives there, including an uncle who works in the music field as a professional session guitarist to whom Alessandra leaned.

Alessandra has always loved singing and in the Savona area she made herself known with some concerts together with her piano teacher Alessandro Collina, with whom she has been studying for 6 years, and won some local competitions like the fifth edition of “VB Factor” when he was only 12 years old. In addition to the piano, she studied singing at the “Nati Da un Sogno” with vocal coach Debora Tamagnini.

After the first three initial auditions here she is in her performance in the blinds with the song “I will Pray (Pregherò)” by Giorgia and Alicia Keys and which earned her access to the next phase of the program: the duel. 3 out of 4 judges turned, just when he started singing in Italian. She then chose for her path, Judge Espen Lind singer, songwriter and producer for singers such as Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Train, Jennifer Hudson, Emeli Sande and Selena Gomez.

But let’s go back toEurovision 2023, this January she was confirmed among the 21 participants at the annual Melodi Grand Prix, a festival used to select the Norwegian representative in the Eurovision Song Contest. On January 14th she presented her unreleased “Queen of Kings” during the first semifinal, which she passed, getting the opportunity to present the song again in the final on February 4th. Here she was the winner of the votes of the jury and the public, becoming by right the Norwegian representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool.
