Alex Morgan gets into golf.
The U.S. Women’s National Team and San Diego Wave star announced Friday that she will join the Golf Alliance as an investor in the Los Angeles team, which also includes retired LPGA star Michelle Wie West, tennis legend Serena and Venus Williams, NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo and more.
“It’s official, my husband and I have fallen in love with this sport,” she wrote on social media. “I’m excited to announce my involvement as an investor in @WeAreLAGC (@TGL’s first team)!”

TGL is a new league founded by golfers Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy that will begin competition in January 2024. Some of the world’s top players will compete in three-on-three team matches using golf simulator technology.
Four teams were initially announced: Boston, New York, Atlanta and Los Angeles. Two more are expected to join the alliance in partnership with the PGA Tour.
“We’re delivering a format that looks more like other sports,” Mike McCarley, CEO of Tmrw Sports, the company behind TGL, told Fast Company. “This will be an NBA courtside experience, whether you’re there in person or watching on television.”
It’s unclear if or when LPGA pros will join the new league. But the league’s other investors, including Serena Williams’ husband and TGL investor Alexis Ohanian, are committed to making it happen.
“My first question is, when can we get the LPGA involved? It’s not just because my daughter loves golf,” Ohanian said. “It would be great if it could help elevate the women’s game.”
Ohanian first became associated with Morgan when he started playing in the NWSL, and he later joined Angel City FC as an investor. Now, he’s helping the football star become a member of TGL.
“Golf has become a family hobby,” Morgan told Fast Company. “So, (investing in LAGC) was a no-brainer. “It was something I wanted to be a part of. “
From there, Morgan contacted West, who came on board almost immediately.
“It’s great to have the same mission: democratizing dreams, breaking the stigma around golf, and really showing how fun golf can be,” Wie said. “We really want to use TGL, use technology, to help bring the sport to people and communities who wouldn’t otherwise have access to it.”
She is also committed to getting female golfers into the game.
“I’ve had multiple conversations with LPGA Tour Commissioner Molly (Marcoux Samman),” she said. “It’s very important to me to get women involved. We’ll make it happen. When? I hope it’s soon.”
