Screen Rant is pleased to present an exclusive clip from Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches Episode 7, premiering Sunday Night on AMC and currently available to stream on AMC+. After recently being renewed for a second season, the newest member of AMC’s Immortal Universe follows in the footsteps of Interview with the Vampire by modernizing and expanding on a classic novel by perhaps the most famous supernatural author in history. Mayfair Witches focuses on a powerful family of witches in New Orleans whose connection to a spirit called Lasher is both a blessing and a curse.
While there are thirteen generations to examine in the first novel, Mayfair Witches focuses primarily on Rowan (played by The White Lotus star Alexandra Daddario). The awakening of her powers and her first encounters with various family members, Lasher himself, and her guide and Talamasca lover Ciprien (the show’s answer to husband Michael in her books) make up most of the first season. But after shedding the spirit and therefore the title of nominee in “Transference,” Rowan finds herself drawn back into the chaos of the Mayfair family when her cousin Tessa goes missing.
Will Rowan save Tessa in Mayfair Witches?
In the Screen Rant exclusive clip from episode 7 of Mayfair Witches, aptly titled “Tessa,” the family is reunited after Jojo has a vision of young Mayfair in trouble. As they search for her through blood magic, Cortland Mayfair (played by Harry Hamlin) wonders how far of her Rowan will go to save her cousin. If Lasher isn’t with her, but hasn’t bonded with Tessa as expected, then he has to roam free. If so, Rowan may have to call him back to her side to help the girl, despite how hard she worked to get rid of him this past week.
The public knows that Tessa has been kidnapped by a group of self-proclaimed witch hunters, who used Deirdre Mayfair’s heart to lure her out. She asked Lasher for help as she once did her ancestor Suzanne, even wearing the necklace meant to bind any designate to her spirit, but she never came. It was clear she did not wish to leave the Rowan’s side, and the present situation might force the surgeon’s hand into welcoming him back into her heart.
Even if he does, the question remains whether Rowan will be able to save Tessa’s life, or if it will be too late. If Lasher wants to keep his favorite witch happy, he should offer a fair trade, but he’s already proven he’s willing to do horrible things and simply claims that Rowan wanted them to happen. After “Tessa,” there is only one episode of Mayfair Witches left before fans see where Daddario’s heroine ends up in terms of family status and supernatural powers.
Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches airs new episodes Sundays at 9 p.m. on AMC, although they’re available a week earlier on AMC+.
