It’s Swiss soccer player Alisha Lehmann, dressed in a black leather outfit. Fans cheered on the Aston Villa star, with one of them saying: “The First Lady of SWM… I love her.”
Lehmann recently held the distinction of being the most followed player on Instagram among players participating in the ongoing Women’s World Cup in New Zealand and Australia.
The Swiss striker has over 13 million followers and was recently named as the most desirable female star in the women’s game. Lehmann was actually preceded by German runner Alyssa Schmidt and tennis player Camila Giorgi.
On the field with the Swiss national team, the 24-year-old hopes to achieve the same success. Switzerland began their adventurous campaign at the World Championships with a 2-0 win over the Philippines in their opening match on Friday. Lehmann came on in the second half to replace Ramona Bachmann – who had given Switzerland the lead at half time.
For the 24-year-old, it’s been an extraordinary climb from her tiny hometown of Tagertschi, which has just 400 residents. Lehmann told Sky Sports, “I grew up in a village in Switzerland. When I get home, we still have many animals: horses and dogs. It was all very different. We used to play football in the street all day. When a car came we would shout, “Car! Move!” – said the most dominant female player on the planet.
“Everything was very normal. Now this is a little different! It humbles me because I can always remember these moments. Now I live in a big city, but I never forget where I come from.
