In an interview with Ellen DeGenreres in 2020, Justin Bieber revealed that he was nervous in front of his wife Hailey Bieber. DeGeneres asked Bieber: “But now that you proposed to her, were you very nervous? Did you know what you were going to say? Was it like a romantic gesture?
To which singer Baby replied: “I was very nervous. I felt like in the past we’d talked about me asking the question and I felt like she’d say yes, so I wasn’t really nervous about her saying yes, but I think it’s just something I was more nervous about. Am I going to make this commitment? Can I, as a man, make that commitment and fulfill it, you know what I’m saying, because it’s a serious commitment?”
Bieber then continued: “When you say you will love someone for better or worse and want to be faithful to them, that’s very important. Can I do it? So I think that’s what I was really struggling with, and eventually I thought, “You know, I’m finally going to make a decision and follow through with it, being a husband, and you know, that’s what I’ve always wanted.” and I’m going to just pick this woman and just do it and commit.”
