Angelina Jolie has reportedly said that the judge hearing her conservatorship case was “biased” against her ex-husband Brad Pitt. Now the actress is pleading with California’s governor to ensure that court workers receive domestic violence training.
In a two-page statement written on September 29, Maleficent The star called on Gavin Newsom to support the “Spade Law”, the publication reports Daily mail.
The bill would ban children from being sent to “reunification camps” where they would be forced to live with an abusive guardian.
The legislation would also create domestic violence training programs for court officials to educate them about the effects of child abuse and trauma on children.

“You know that Pica’s Law takes its name from the five-year-old boy who was tragically murdered by his father in April 2017,” Jolie wrote in the letter.
“Pica’s mother, Ana Estevez, fought unsuccessfully in California family court to secure protection for her child.
“For the past six years, Ana has worked with California legislators to ensure that authorities do not overlook or ignore signs of abuse, signs that tragically lead to the harm and death of countless children in our country.”
An insider who knows Jolie well said she is calling for the law following her case with Los Angeles Judge John Ouderkirk, who prevented her children from testifying about the domestic abuse they suffered at the hands of their father.

Oderkirk, the now-retired private judge who officiated Pitt and Jolie’s wedding, ruled in May 2021 that the couple would even maintain separate custody of their children.
“It’s personal to her and for good reason,” the source said, shedding light on her beef with the “biased” Oderkirk, who was removed from the case after failing to disclose a business relationship with her then-husband’s lawyer, Pitt. . .
Jolie claimed that Ouderkirk deprived her children of the opportunity to testify, despite the fact that California law allows children over 14 to do so.
She challenged the judge’s custody decision and filed a motion to remove him from the case. Oderkirk was suspended in July 2021.
“Their entire family was a victim of a system failure,” the insider added.
“She fought for years privately for her family and publicly for other families.”
However, sources familiar with Pitt said New York Post that Jolie is trying to “distort the truth” and damage the reputations of people who opposed her.
“While the legislation she supports is potentially very viable, it has nothing to do with her custody case,” one insider said.
“It is inexplicable that she would use her propaganda activities to make yet another slanderous attempt to ignore all objective facts to advance her own interests.”
Jolie fought for custody of her children after the 2016 incident, detailed in an FBI report.
