Antonio Bellardi seeks to improve his classic record with a mare who returns after 35 days without racing at La Rinconada

The 37th edition of the event took place at the La Rinconada circuit and the agenda included 9 races, including 2 condition tests and 3 G2 Classics, as well as the fourth race in the afternoon, the National 5y6.

In the third test of the programme, before the start of the 5th and 6th valid events, the XLVIII edition of the Gustavo J. Sanabria Classic will be run over 2,000 meters for mares four years old and above.

This classic will reenact one of the most exciting duels on the Coché oval in 2023, with trainers Germán Rojas’ Philomena and Gabriel Márquez’s Paomi Police once again competing.

While waiting for the fight, respected trainer Antonio Bellardi registered Mi Chiquitina and had him ride on whip Francisco Quevedo. The mature five-year-old Chestnut won the last presentation and may be surprised in her selection if she takes advantage of the aforementioned showdown.

It is worth mentioning that trainer Berardi is the greatest champion in the history of the Gustavo J. Sanabria Classic. He has won five times so far, the first of which was in 2000 with The mare La Emperadora won the championship, followed by the Great Barbara in 2003; Fantasy Parts in 2006 and last with Dubai Queen in 2009.

My Chiquitina came in from a hair job, 35.0 in the 400; the INH timing department reported a 50.4 in the 600 meters and a 65.3 in the half-mile with two laps on the front straight.
